Assistant General Manager
£31,000 – £35,000 per year

We’re not replacing someone – we’re growing. And as we expand, we’re looking for a brilliant, full-time, people-person to join the team and help lead from the front.

This role is perfect for someone who lights up a room, keeps their cool under pressure, and knows how to get the best out of a team. You don’t need to know everything about how our pub runs; we can teach you that. What we can’t teach is attitude, empathy, and the natural ability to wow guests and lead a team with both strength and heart.

If you’re the sort of person who takes pride in creating a great atmosphere, motivates others without barking orders, and genuinely enjoys being part of a tight-knit team, then read on – this could be your next big step.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Leading from the floor – setting the tone, supporting your team, and ensuring every guest leaves with a smile
Handling the day-to-day – running shifts, managing the team, solving problems before they even appear
Team development – training new starters, encouraging progress, and building a team that trusts and supports each other
Stock & cellar – keeping an eye on stock levels, managing orders, and ensuring everything behind the scenes runs smoothly
Customer experience – responding to feedback, handling complaints with grace, and making regulars feel like royalty
Standards & compliance – making sure everything’s shipshape, from rotas and cash handling to health & safety

What We’re Looking For:

  • Someone with character; empathetic but assertive, calm under pressure, the kind of person people naturally look to in busy moments
  • A genuine love for hospitality and making people feel welcome
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role – ideally in a busy bar or restaurant setting
  • A team player who also knows when to take charge
  • Organised, proactive, and not afraid to roll their sleeves up when things get tough
  • Holds a Personal Licence (ideally) – First Aid certification is a bonus

Why Join Us?

  • A competitive salary that reflects your experience and commitment
  • Tips and discounts
  • The chance to grow within a business that’s genuinely on the up
  • A venue full of history, energy, and community spirit
  • A management team that supports each other and takes real pride in what we do

Benefits:

  • Tips
  • Company pension
  • Discounted or free food
  • Employee discount
  • Free parking

Bar / Restaurant Supervisor
£13.50 – £14.00 per hour

Are you the kind of person who can bring calm to chaos, keep a team motivated, and make guests feel welcome the second they walk in? We’re looking for a natural leader to join us! Experience helps – but people skills matter most. We’re after someone confident, reliable, and great with people. You don’t need to know our venue inside-out (we’ll teach you that), but you do need to have experience managing people and a proven knack for leading from the front.

If you’ve got the right attitude, accountability, and a real passion for customer experience, that’s what we truly value. You can learn the rest on the job.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Taking the reins on shifts when the manager’s not around
  • Leading the team with confidence and keeping service slick
  • Keeping cool when things get hectic; and helping others do the same
  • Getting stuck in: pouring pints, serving tables, handling issues before they become problems
  • Supporting day-to-day operations like cash handling, cleanliness, and standards
  • Helping us deliver top-notch food, drink, and service – every single shift

You’ll Need To:

  • Have experience leading a team (hospitality is ideal, but not essential)
  • Be great with people – calm, fair, upbeat, and approachable
  • Take pride in how things are run and step up when it counts
  • Be ready for evenings and weekends (the nature of the beast!) – but enjoy that sweet time off when the rest of the world’s at work
  • Be 18+ and ideally hold a Personal Licence (or be willing to get one)

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive pay, plus tips
  • Staff discounts
  • Progression opportunities in a company that’s genuinely growing
  • A close-knit team that works hard and has fun doing it
  • A chance to work in a lively, well-respected local favourite

Benefits:

  • Tips
  • Company pension
  • Discounted or free food
  • Employee discount

Bar / Restaurant Staff
£12.50 – £13.00 per hour

We’re after real people with character. The kind of people who can chat to anyone, enjoy working as part of a team, and bring good energy to a shift. You don’t need years of experience, if you’ve got the right attitude, we can teach you the rest. We can show you how to carry three plates, pour the perfect pint, or handle a busy dinner service. What we can’t teach is how to be a good crack – and that’s what really matters here.

The Role Includes:

  • Serving drinks – from pints and wines to cocktails and coffees
  • Running food and looking after guests with warmth and confidence
  • Being part of a tight-knit team that looks out for each other
  • Helping keep the bar, restaurant, and terrace running smoothly
  • Playing your part in creating a great experience, every time

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in hospitality (preferred, but not essential)
  • Knows how to graft when it gets busy, and still have a laugh
  • Is reliable, friendly, and happy to get stuck in
  • Brings good vibes, solid team spirit, and a sense of pride in the job

What You’ll Get in Return:

  • Competitive pay (that grows with experience and effort)
  • Fair tip share across the team
  • Food and drink discounts
  • A chance to grow with us; we promote from within
  • A place in one of Ulverston’s busiest, friendliest venues

Benefits:

  • Tips
  • Company pension
  • Discounted or free food
  • Employee discount

Sous Chef
£13.00 – £13.50 per hour

We’re looking for a capable, level-headed Sous Chef, on a full-time basis, to help lead the kitchen. As Sous Chef, you’ll be supporting the Head Chef in managing the day-to-day running of the kitchen, setting the pace in service, helping train and guide the team, and keeping standards sharp across the board. We’re after someone who’s calm under pressure, confident with ordering and prep planning, and happy to lead by example on a busy pass.

If you’re ready to step up, lead from the front, and be part of a kitchen that actually runs well, this could be the move you’ve been waiting for. We’re not ticking boxes – we’re looking for the right fit.

What’s on offer:

  • Up to £40,000 depending on experience and attitude
  • 4 on, 3 off – because rest matters as much as hard work
  • Full holiday entitlement – no rolled-up hours or vague promises
  • Involvement in menu development; we welcome ideas and creativity
  • A stable, experienced kitchen team – no egos, no chaos
  • Career progression – we’re part of a small, growing group and we reward the right people
  • Accessible via bus route

Benefits:

  • Tips
  • Company pension
  • Discounted or free food
  • Employee discount

Chef de Partie
£30,000 – £34,000 per year

We’re on the lookout for a strong, full-time Chef de Partie to join the team. This isn’t an entry-level position – we’re after someone who knows their way around a section, can hold their own in a busy service, and wants to be part of a team that actually works well together. You’ll be joining a solid group of chefs who care about what they’re putting on the plate and back each other up in the kitchen.

We’ve invested in our kitchen and our people. The place runs well because we all pull in the same direction. If you’re tired of chaotic kitchens, unrealistic expectations, or not getting your days off, this might just be a better fit.

What we’re offering:

  • Up to £34,000 depending on experience and reliability
  • 4 days on, 3 days off – giving you time to reset and come back sharp
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Input on menus and specials – your ideas are welcome here
  • Opportunities to progress within a growing group that rewards hard work and loyalty
  • Accessible via bus route

Benefits:

  • Tips
  • Company pension
  • Discounted or free food
  • Employee discount

Why work with us?

  • Very competitive pay
  • A supportive, close-knit team in a respected town centre pub
  • Clear systems and structure to make your job easier
  • A premium environment with high expectations – and the rewards to match
  • Real opportunities to grow with the business
